Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On behalf of Priests for Life, which is privileged to co-sponsor and help organize this national day of rallies in 140 different cities to Stand up for Religious Freedom, I send you prayerful greetings this afternoon, with regrets that previously scheduled pro-life meetings keep me from being with you today.
I have one main thing to say to you today: the unjust and unconstitutional mandate imposed on Americans by President Obama and his HHS will not stand!
It will be defeated, because people of conscience are standing up, taking to the streets, uniting with each other, and breaking the silence!
It will be defeated, because the Constitution of the United States is stronger than any Presidential administration!
It will be defeated, because people of faith know how to oppose injustice and to suffer any sacrifice rather than to let evil triumph!
It will be defeated, because you are here today, and will continue to work together, for as long as it takes, to obtain the victory!
It will be defeated, because on November 6 of this year, the people of America will go to the voting booths in our national elections, and those elections will bring about real change!
The very right that brings us together here today, the right to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, is an integral part of the rights that are also under attack by this administration -- freedom of religion and freedom of speech.
And today, let's be clear. These rights, though secured by the Constitution, have an even deeper foundation. They are rooted in the dignity of the human person. Therefore, they do not depend on either the Church or the state. No earthly authority can take these rights away.
That's why we are here today and that's why we will win!
Priests for Life is ready to continue working with you throughout the year, and we look forward to your involvement in our ongoing prayer campaign, in our lawsuit against the Administration, and in our educational and public witness activities.
God bless you all!
