Father Pavone: Catholic school teachers

 should believe what they teach

STATEN ISLAND, NY -- Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today gave his public support to Bishop Robert Vasa, who has asked Catholic school teachers in the Diocese of Santa Rosa to sign statements affirming that "modern errors" such as contraception, abortion, homosexual marriage and euthanasia are "matters that gravely offend human dignity.”

Said Father Pavone: “What Bishop Vasa has done here is the sign of a good shepherd who knows how to read the signs of the times and respond appropriately. The 'modern errors' mentioned here are precisely the arenas in which the Gospel is most fiercely attacked today. Catholic education is meant to train our students to advance that Gospel. And they cannot be trained to do that if their trainers don't even believe it. As the old saying goes, 'You cannot give what you do not have.'”
