Staten Island, NY -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, spoke at the third National Sidewalk Counseling Symposium sponsored by Pro-life Action Ministries and held in Minneapolis, MN from July 25-27.

"This is one of the most important gatherings each year in the pro-life movement," Fr. Frank asserted. "It is a gathering of front-line specialists from cities across America. They come together to sharpen their skills for the critical work of standing in front of killing centers and, in a conversation that is often only seconds long, trying to persuade moms and dads not to have their child killed. Then they return to their respective cities to train hundreds of others doing this work day by day."

"During these days, the Pope has rallied young people, and the whole Church, through his World Youth Day addresses, to pay active attention to the poor. One of the ways to do this is to rally to the side of the poorest of the poor, the unborn child, through sidewalk counseling," Fr. Pavone added. "I remember talking about this extensively with Mother Teresa when I visited her in Calcutta in 1994. She told me how she would go regularly to the places in India where abortions are performed, and take the women by the arm to bring them to her community, to find hope and life for them and their children. She exhorted us to do the same."
