NEW ORLEANS --  Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today in support of Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and the pro-life legislation signed today.

“It is particularly good to be here in the state of Louisiana, where I am attending the meeting of the U.S. Bishops Conference, on the day  Gov. Jindal signed into law two necessary and common-sense pieces of legislation that will protect women and babies.

Referring to a new law that calls for abortionists to have hospital admitting privileges, Father Pavone said:

“The argument the abortion industry uses, namely, that the law requiring abortionists to have hospital admitting privileges will cause people to go to back-alley, unlicensed practitioners, is actually an argument that shows the reasonableness of this law. Back-alley, unlicensed, unscrupulous practitioners are already functioning in numerous abortion facilities across the country; laws like the one signed today are meant precisely to protect women from that."

Gov. Jindal also signed a law preventing abortion providers from teaching sex education in schools.
