Fr. Pavone: The Fruits of the Election are Rolling In -- House Puts Dent in Funding Child Killing

NEW YORK –  Fr. Frank Pavone today praised the House of Representatives for passing H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.
“This is a great first step in getting the federal government out of the abortion business,” said Fr. Pavone.  “The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act will finally put an end to the direct funding of abortion in all federal departments, agencies, and programs. The next step will be to end government payments to the nation’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood.”
In one of its first official acts this year, the House has voted 238 to 183  to approve H.R. 7, which would extend the abortion funding restrictions of the Hyde Amendment to all federal expenditures, including Obamacare spending.  It would also make those spending limits permanent, eliminating the need to pass budget amendments every year.
“With President Trump already having stated that he will sign the bill, it’s time for the Senate to move as quickly as the House to follow the will of the American people, who overwhelmingly do not want to pay for abortions,” added Fr. Pavone.  “An estimated two million Americans are alive today because for decades Congress has passed the Hyde Amendment.  Clearly, it’s time to extend those protections to all federal spending.
"And for those who complained about me and others being 'too partisan' during the election, here's a reminder: These pro-life votes in Congress are the result of that election activity you complained about. So if you're going to rejoice in the good fruits, as you should, then stop complaining about the actions that are necessary to produce those fruits," Fr. Pavone concluded.
