Fr. Pavone Congratulates Arizona on Law to Protect Aborted-Alive Babies

NEW YORK – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today congratulated Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and state legislators for passing a bill on Friday that will ensure that babies who survive abortions receive medical care.

“There is no right to kill a born baby,” said Fr. Pavone.  “This law simply says that if a child who is fully born is breathing or shows other physical signs of life, the abortionist must treat that baby as he would any other newborn.  How is this even controversial?”

The bill, S. 1367, was passed by the Arizona House and Senate following the recent release of an undercover video wherein a Phoenix abortionist was interviewed two-and-a-half years ago.  When discussing in the video if aborted-alive babies are given care, Dr. DeShawn Taylor states, “You need to pay attention to who's in the room, right?”

“A baby who is outside his or her mother’s womb is someone who even abortionists must admit is a person under the law,” added Fr. Pavone.  “I thank Governor Ducey, who has been a stalwart defender of life, for signing this important measure so that whether a born-alive baby receives life-saving care doesn’t depend on ‘who’s in the room’ at the time.”
