Fr. Pavone on Planned Parenthood report: Taxpayers shouldn’t be coerced into sending even one dollar to this killing machine

NEW YORK  – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said today that Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report contains more evidence for ending the organization’s federal funding.

“Planned Parenthood aborted over 328,000 babies last year, yet it still received $554 million in public funds.  That’s almost $1,700 per dead child,” said Fr. Pavone.  “There’s no reason why taxpayers should be coerced into sending even one dollar to this killing machine.  Congress needs to stop subsidizing Planned Parenthood and it needs to do it now!”

Planned Parenthood just issued its annual report for 2015-2016, about six months later than usual.  The report states that the organization took in over $1.3 billion for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016, over $550 million of which was from federal, state, and local governments.  The “non-profit” abortion business showed a net profit of over $77 million.

“Planned Parenthood admits in its annual report that it performs more abortions than breast exams, more abortions than pap tests, and more abortions than ‘well woman exams,” said Fr. Pavone.  “But even if they sold only one abortion a year, no amount of other activity can make up for that atrocity, and the killing of a single baby is enough reason to shut them down.”
