After Trump speech, Fr. Pavone vows to redouble efforts to encourage pro-life vote in 2018 elections

WASHINGTON --  Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Father Denis Wilde, OSA, associate director, were among a group of Catholic priests and sisters who today attended the Faith and Freedom Coalition event with leaders prominent in the evangelical world. President Trump was the keynote speaker during the luncheon.

“I am proud to have been one of the first religious and pro-life leaders to have come out in support of Donald Trump during the primaries and then having vigorously supported him in the general election,” Father Pavone said after the luncheon. His invigorating speech today was yet more evidence that this was the right thing to do.

“As he spoke passionately of the role of faith in American life, of the freedom Americans must have to live their faith and of the freedom pastors must have to preach that faith without government restriction, I could not help but think that there are so many in the church who do not yet realize what a blessing this president is for the church. He affirmed our position in regard to the HHS mandate, which Priests for Life has been battling in court, and he also affirmed our position against the very unreasonable requirements of the Johnson Amendment.

“But perhaps  most important of all is that he told us that we religious believers delivered the election to him and that in next year’s mid-terms, we need to do the same to increase pro-life majorities both in the House and in the Senate. Today’s inspiring event made me all the more committed to do exactly that.”
