Fr. Frank Pavone on Ruling Blocking Texas Anti-Dismemberment Law: "We need no injunction; we need no hearing"
NEW YORK – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today criticized a federal judge’s temporary injunction against Texas’s law protecting unborn babies from dismemberment abortions.
“Once again, a judge has considered the financial pain suffered by abortionists to be more important than the physical pain experienced by babies who are torn limb from limb,” said Fr. Pavone.? “There’s only one reason the abortion industry is challenging Texas’s law protecting unborn babies – abortionists will lose money if it goes into effect.”
Federal Judge Lee Yeakel issued a two-week injunction against the new Texas statute.? The measure would prevent dismemberment abortions in which the arms, legs, and skulls of children in the womb are ripped from their bodies.? The judge’s order will be in effect until a Sept. 4 hearing.
“There is no need for an injunction and there is no need for a hearing," said Fr. Pavone. "We're talking about the dismemberment of living children. Civilized societies don't permit that, and it's that simple."
