TITUSVILLE, FL – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today urged the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36), which will be voted upon Tuesday, Oct. 3.
“Torture is illegal in the United States, except when practiced against babies in the womb,” said Fr. Pavone. “Aborted children aren’t just tortured, they’re tortured to death. Therefore, this bill stands in a unique category among the many bills considered by the House. It defines not just a policy, but who we are as a people. By passing the Unborn Child Protection Act next week, the House has a chance to declare that as a civilized nation, we will no longer permit any unborn child who can feel pain to die such an excruciating death.”
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R) announced today that the House of Representatives will vote next Tuesday on H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. The measure would protect from abortion unborn babies who are 20 weeks along or older. A version of the bill was passed by the House in 2015, but failed to overcome a Senate filibuster by Democrats. "It is astonishing," said Fr. Pavone, "how the Democratic party shows such faithful support for the torture and killing of the smallest children. Let's see what their vote will be in the House on Tuesday."
“Priests for Life is urging all of our supporters to contact their Congressmen for this important vote,” added Fr. Pavone. “If a public official isn’t willing to stop the torture of innocent children, such a person does not belong in public office.”
