Fr. Pavone Condemns PA Governor’s Veto of Life-Saving Bill

TITUSVILLE, FL – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today sharply criticized Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf for vetoing legislation that would have spared late-term unborn babies from dismemberment.

“Gov. Wolf calls ‘vile’ a bill that would have saved unborn babies from being dismembered,” said Fr. Pavone.  “What’s truly vile is that a governor would be willing, by the stroke of a pen, to sentence innocent human beings to excruciatingly painful deaths and be proud of it.”

The Pennsylvania legislature overwhelmingly passed S.B. 3 to prevent an abortion method whereby living unborn children’s arms and legs are torn from their bodies.  The bill also would have lowered the age for almost all abortions from 24 to 20 weeks’ gestation. Gov. Wolf vetoed the measure.

Undercover phone calls commissioned by Priests for Life clearly demonstrate that abortions after 20 weeks are routinely performed on healthy mothers carrying healthy babies,” added Fr. Pavone.  “One of these recent calls was to a facility in Philadelphia. This atrocity will end only when we have leaders who know the difference between serving the public and killing the public.”
