Titusville, FL – Fr. Frank Pavone, President of the National Pro-Life Religious Council, today called on the United States Senate to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. A cloture vote is scheduled for later today.

“Plainly and simply, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act will end the excruciating torture of abortions performed on unborn babies old enough to feel pain,” said Fr. Pavone. “This vote really is a test of our Senators’ humanity. Will they protect innocent babies from agonizing suffering or not?”

The National Pro-Life Religious Council is a multi-denominational Christian organization whose members uphold the Biblical standard of the value, dignity, and sanctity of human life. The group is urging passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would spare from abortion unborn babies of 20 or more weeks’ gestation whom scientists say can feel pain. The bill has already been approved by the House of Representatives.

“Polls show that even people who identify as ‘pro-choice’ want to protect babies from late-term abortion,” added Fr. Pavone. “The only ones who support gruesome abortions after five months of life are the ones who profit from it – those in the abortion industry and the politicians who receive their money. Americans will be watching this Senate vote very closely.”
