The Second World Meeting of the Holy Father with Families in Rio de Janeiro from October 1 to 5^th, 1997, brought together the faithful from every continent to reaffirm their commitment to life and family. The event was organized by the Pontifical Council for the Family, of which Fr. Frank Pavone is an official.

Priests for Life was well represented at the event by clergy and lay members. Fr. Richard Hogan, Associate Director, was one of the workshop speakers. Fr. Frank Pavone led a session of youth for life leaders from around the world. This was the beginning of an effort by the Pontifical Council for the Family to create a center of communication and encouragement for young people everywhere who are specially committed to defending life and family.
