May the Holy Face of Christ shine upon
you and through you!
I would like us to meditate and act upon the truth of our
Missionary spirituality as a lifestyle. One of the most profound
ways of living a Missionary of the Gospel of Life
lifestyle is to embrace what we might call, the Theology of
the Face or incarnational and sacramental living. The
intentional practicing of the Theology of the Face and
sacramental living is a most blessed, honorable, and
transforming lifestyle. The following is the introduction to the
article, Face to face:
Theology of the Face, the Incarnation and Sacramental Living:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and
the Word was God. And the word became flesh and dwelt among us
full of grace and truth; and we have beheld his glory, glory as
of the only son from the Father" (John 1:1; 14).
A holy hush comes over us and the knees of our lives are bowed
in humble adoration in response to these words and the miracle
of the Incarnation - the "infleshment" - of God in Jesus Christ.
The Incarnation has the most profound implications for one's
faith and life and has been the chief agent in the extension of
compassion, mercy, justice, kindness and salvation throughout
the earth. We are called upon to embrace His Incarnation, to
live it and to see His presence in the face of every human
person, especially the least.
I ask that you prayerfully read the entire article, Face
to face. You may find the article at:
www.priestsforlife.org/articles/facetoface.htm. I would
appreciate your personal reflections and applications of this
practice. A good format for our conversing would be our new MEV-Online
Community Site.
If you have not registered for the MEV-Online Community, please
do so today. If you have already registered, please increase
your participation and build relationships with other Lay
Missionaries. The site to register may be found at,
www.pfl-mev.org/user/CreateUser.aspx. The address for the
Community site is, www.pfl-mev.org.
If you have not made your promises yet and are over ten months
into your formation, please review the video email
www.priestsforlife.org/missionary/july07letter.htm and take the
next step. If you need any clarification or assistance with the
process, do not hesitate to call upon us.
In closing, let us intentionally practice the Theology of the
Face. Let us not look at another, speak to another or touch
another, without first looking for the Face of Jesus in the
other. I look forward to hearing your reflections on Face to
face-The Theology of the Face,
www.priestsforlife.org/articles/facetoface.htm.
I eagerly look forward to seeing you, Face to face.
