Dear Missionary of the Gospel of Life:
As we conclude one year and begin another, it is important
that we make time for personal reflection.
As a part of this reflection I am asking the Missionaries to
prayerfully work through the
Pro-Life Examination of Conscience.
This examination will help with our personal reflection,
repentance and fresh start into the New Year.
It will also set a pattern for praying the Examination on
each First Friday of the year.
As one wise man said, “The unexamined life is a life not
worth living.”
The Pro-Life Examination of Conscience and reflecting on our
MEV Promises are wonderful ways to assist us in "worthy living"
this New Year and always.
At this time of new beginning, I also ask you to especially
focus on our “Promises” as Missionaries of the Gospel of Life at
www.priestsforlife.org/missionary/laypromises.htm.
I would like to address three particular groups of
Missionaries and the relationship of the Promises to your lives
and ministries:
-Those of you who have made your Life Time Promises:
Prayerfully read over the Promises at
www.priestsforlife.org/missionary/laypromises.htm and ask
the Lord how He would have you live out your Promises in the New
Year. Also make an effort to assist Missionaries in Formation in
your area to move forward with the making of their Promises.
-Those of you who have made your First Promises: From this
point forward Missionaries will only be making Promises that are
permanent (for your life time). You may affirm your desire for
permanent Promises in either of two ways:
First, you may download the permanent Promises Sheet
www.priestsforlife.org/missionary/permanent-profession.pdf, prayerfully
sign it, make a copy, and then mail the original back to:
Missionaries of the Gospel of Life, P.O. Box 141172 Staten
Island, NY 10314.
You also have the option of moving forward with a Ceremony at
which you can make your permanent Promises.
Either way, I ask that you would please let us know your
plans today.
-Those of you who are at least 10 months into your Formation
process but who have not yet made Promises: Whether it has been
10 months or several years, I strongly encourage you to move
forward with the making of your permanent Promises.
Please download, fill in and return your Assessment Form
www.priestsforlife.org/missionary/lay-assessment-form.pdf.
The answers for the form are found on our MEV site,
www.missionariesofthegospeloflife.org and in your MEV-Manual.
We welcome your questions or concerns, and we are standing
ready to assist you in this process.
I am looking forward to helping our Missionaries grow and
strengthen in number and in spiritual solidarity.
Let us come together in prayer and action in a concerted way
this New Year...
In the Name of the One Who makes all things new,
