Dear Lay Missionary of the Gospel of Life, 

I pray this letter finds you assured of the Victory of the Resurrection!

The Rosary has been constantly recommended by Popes and saints. It contains all of salvation history. It immerses us in Scripture. It has gained great victories for Christianity through the ages. (Fr. Frank Pavone, M.E.V., Moderator General)

It is my privilege to announce to you a deepening of our Missionary commitment to corporate prayer through a call by our Moderator General, Fr. Pavone, to the “Rosary and Fasting for Life.” As Lay Missionaries of the Gospel of Life we are already praying the Rosary daily for the ending of abortion. Fr. Frank is now asking all Missionaries to consider deepening that prayer devotion through combining regular times of fasting with the Rosary for the ending of abortion. This spiritual discipline of fasting is not a requirement, but an invitation to join with thousands who are uniting in the devotion of praying the “Rosary and Fasting for Life.” The combination of prayer and fasting reminds me of a biblical text that seems applicable to this “call” and the hope we have to cast this evil of abortion out:

…his disciples asked him in private, “Why could we not drive it out?” He said to them, “This kind can only come out through prayer and fasting.” (Mk. 10.29)

Included in our fasting is not only the denial of food, but of legitimate pleasure in order to make reparation for sin. These sacrifices are offerings to God and reminders to us to wage the spiritual warfare until this battle is won.

Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary, for the Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world. (St. Pio of Pieltracina)

Frank and me about our corporate unity in the devotion of the “Rosary and Fasting for Life.” More importantly we look forward to you joining us in this spiritual discipline and seeing the incredible fruits and victories that most certainly will come as we join in the, “Rosary and Fasting for Life.”
