Dear Missionary of the Gospel of Life-Lay
Associate:
It is always a delight for me to write you
and to deepen our unity as Missionaries of the Gospel of
Life.
The first Friday of the month Pro-Life
Examination of Conscience (contained in prayer booklet
mentioned below) is a wonderful spiritual discipline by
which we keep the "oil" of our faith clean as it runs
through the engine of our apostolate on behalf of life. It
is expected that all Lay Missionaries participate in this
discipline each first Friday. If we miss, we are to fulfill
this discipline as soon as possible and not put it off for
another month.
This month I ask you to read and reflect upon
The Promises our Lay Affiliates Profess and What
our Constitutions Say about our Lay Affiliates. It
is imperative that we know the promises of the Society,
where the grace comes from to fulfill them, and to
faithfully prepare ourselves to make the promises when the
time comes to do so. The Lay Affiliate/Associate section of
the Constitutions helps us to understand who the affiliates
are, the relationship between their own community/vocation
and the Society, and the formation and holiness that is
expected of the Affiliate/Associate.
You should frequent our website for study and
updates. A new online registration form now makes it easier
for people to join the Missionaries. Please review the new
form and spread the word to those who might be interested in
the Society. I ask your prayers, participation, and patience
as we slowly but steadily develop local Life Cell gatherings
and facilitators to conduct them. Contact me regarding your
participation.
Be sure to have plenty of Missionary
resources on hand for your growth and for the equipping and
recruiting of others to establish a culture of life.
