PRAYER “Mobilizing the faithful in a
grace filled consecration to promote the love of God and
neighbor from the moment of conception to natural death.”
Members participate in four overarching spiritual disciplines
to assist in the nurture of their consecration to God and
service to humanity and in particular the least. The four
spiritual disciplines are: prayer,
study,
community and
apostolic witness. We will
consider the first of the four disciplines, prayer.
“Prayer is to the Christian what breathing is to all
humanity.” Our union with the Divine, His children and mission
through intimate prayer cannot be overvalued. Prayer is the
heartbeat and breath of all we do with and for Him. While there
is a broad range of prayer and unique interaction of every soul
with the Lord, each member of the apostolate is united daily in
at least three particular forms of prayer:
1. The Daily Rosary for Life: The rosary is prayed daily
with special intentions for the restoration and renewal of
the sacredness of life, marriage and the family. Prayers for
the peace of the world, the intentions of the Holy Father,
and well being of apostolate members, are also included in
the Daily Rosary for Life.
2. Prayer of Consecration: “Precious Lord, I consecrate
myself to this day so that I might love you with all my
heart, soul, mind and strength and love my neighbor as
myself. I promise to live a chaste, obedient and simple life
of faith and to nurture these promises through the spiritual
disciplines of prayer, study, community and apostolic
witness. I ask all this through Jesus Christ, the Author of
Life. Amen!”
3. Pledge of Re-Commitment: “I thank God today for the
gift of my life, and for the lives of my brothers and
sisters. I know I am responsible for the unborn who cannot
speak for themselves. I know that the most serious tragedy
of our day is the tragedy of abortion. Today I commit
myself, never to be silent, never to be passive, never to be
forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the
Pro-life Movement and never to stop defending life until all
my brothers and sisters are protected, and our nation once
again becomes a nation with liberty and justice not just for
some, but for all. Amen!”
Other forms of prayer are engaged in or welcomed. Some form
of morning and evening prayer is required, along with a minimum
of weekly participation in Mass. Devotions such as Eucharistic
Adoration, Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Contemplative Prayer are
encouraged. Again, “ Prayer is to the Christian what breathing
is to all humanity.” Pray!
If you have a sense like those participating in the
Apostolate, that now is the time for God’s people to unite in a
deeper consecration to God and neighbor, especially “the least.”
