STUDY
“Mobilizing the faithful in a grace filled
consecration to promote the love of God and neighbor from the
moment of conception to natural death.”
Study, is the second of the four (prayer,
study, community and
apostolic witness) spiritual disciplines
engaged in, to nurture each member’s consecration to the Lord
and humanity.
Today, more than ever, sound information (even
sacred information) is readily available to equip God’s people
for personal transformation and mission to the world. Many are
simply not making the time to ponder, ingest, or study, the
messages that can yield life. Study must be a discipline we
value and work at, for our own sake and that of others. We would
do well to heed the admonition of St. Paul and Sacred Scripture:
“Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God, a workman
who causes no disgrace, imparting the word of truth without
deviation (2 Timothy 2:15).”
Members are encouraged to participate
(privately and corporately) in ongoing study and learning. Among
the sources and opportunities presented by the Apostolate for
study:
- The Sacred Scriptures
- The Catechism of the Catholic Church
- Papal Encyclicals (especially Evangelium
Vitae) and other Church Documents
- The Lives and Teachings of the Saints and
Fathers of the Church
- The Divine Office or Abbreviated Forms of
The Office (ex. The Magnificat Periodical)
- Spiritual Devotions
- Pro-life Materials and Resources,
starting with
www.priestsforlife.org
- Local and National Pro-life and
Pro-family Websites
- Legal, Political, Social and Demographic
Issues, related to life and family
As we freely give ourselves to the
grace-filled discipline of study, we will experience the renewal
and transformation of our minds and be better equipped to work
for the establishment of His kingdom on earth as it is in
heaven. May you know the blessedness and fruitfulness of study.
Now is the time for God’s people to unite in a
deeper consecration to God and neighbor, especially “the least.”
