On Nov. 18, 2000, the United Catholic Music and Video Association
(U.C.M.V.A.) held their first annual Unity Awards Ceremony at the Hartke Theater
on the campus of Catholic University in Washington, DC. This ceremony honored
the achievement and excellence in a variety of categories of music and video.
We at Priests for Life are proud to announce that the music video, "This Is
My Body" which was inspired by Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests
for Life, won in the category for Best Music Video of the Year. In addition, Fr.
Pavone was honored by being given "The Inspirational Award" for his work in
pro-life ministry. This award was presented to Fr. Frank by actress Gloria
DeHaven. Prior to the presentation, Congressman Chris Smith made special remarks
and offered words of praise for Fr. Frank and the work of Priests for Life.
The purpose of the U.C.M.V.A. is to support, encourage and promote the
development of all forms of Catholic music and video, including Liturgical,
Praise and Worship, Contemporary, Classical and instrumental compositions. As an
umbrella organization the U.C.M.V.A. creates an atmosphere in which artists,
producers, arrangers, retail stores, radio stations, concert promoters, dioceses
and parishes can come together and unify their efforts in order to benefit the
organization as a whole.
