Pope John Paul II was beatified on Sunday, May 1, 2011 and canonized on April 27, 2014. He was the “Pope of Life.” His example and teachings, especially “Evangelium Vitae” (The Gospel of Life) provide a key foundation for the pro-life movement. Pope John Paul II came to know and bless the ministry of Priests for Life when I worked under him at the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Family in the late 1990’s. His teachings provide the basis for the work Priests for Life continues to carry out in the Church.
As a sign of gratitude to God for giving us this Pope of Life, and as a sign of our commitment to study and live his teachings and follow his example, we invite you to download and say this prayer frequently, and also to let us know, by means of the form below, the ways that John Paul II has impacted your life.
God bless you!

A Prayer to Saint John Paul II, the Pope of Life
Father and Lord of Life,
Your Son Jesus Christ conquered the power of death
By his own death and resurrection,
And made us the People of Life,
Called to proclaim, celebrate, and serve
The Gospel of Life.
We praise you for the gift of life,
This first and most fundamental gift you give us,
And the foundation of all our other rights.
We thank you for raising up Saint John Paul II,
The Pope of Life,
And for his teaching and witness to life's value.
Grant that we may respond to his call
To bring an end to abortion, euthanasia,
And all assaults on human life,
And to unite in "a great campaign in support of life."
Bring us a Culture of Life.
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer in Honor of Saint Pope John Paul II
Father of Love and Life,
In every age you inspire your people
Through the teaching and example
Of leaders who are living witnesses of your Kingdom.
We thank you for Saint John Paul II,
Whom you raised up to point the way
To a Culture of Life.
May we learn from his teachings
That the defense of the unborn
Stands at the center of our moral priorities.
May we learn from his example
How to defend life with courage and joy.
May we echo his conviction
That the outcome of the battle for life
Has already been decided,
Because Jesus Christ is Risen from the dead.
May we, remembering Saint John Paul II,
Always proclaim, celebrate, and serve
The Gospel of Life.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!
