I had an abortion at five months along

How did you come to have the abortion(s) and who was involved?

I was 18 years old and scared to death about the responsibility. Four people knew about the pregnancy. None of my family knew.  I was afraid of the disappointment and the physical abuse of my father. The father of the child was involved and so were two friends.

Were you given adequate information and counseling prior to the abortion(s)?

I don’t believe so and no counseling was given at all because I went out of state.

How would you describe your abortion(s)?

Unforgettable, negative experience. I had an abortion at five months along and the baby came out at eight inches long. The head was cut off from the body during the abortion. I went through the full child birth experience. It was devastating. The father of the baby was not there.

Please describe what you have done to deal with your abortion(s), and whether it helped.

I sought forgiveness from the priest. I sought professional counseling that helped somewhat but the bottom line is I do not forgive myself and regretted the decision ever since.

The abortion has changed me because I feel that I am not worthy of happiness. I had female problems young and wanted 2-3 children. I have one child -- God Bless -- but I blame my abortion for God not wanting me to have another. I just want to forget about it but I can't.
