I was given ten minutes to decide

I became pregnant following graduation of college in 1966. My boyfriend was a grad student. When we found out we told our parents. His mother had previous abortions (illegal). Our parents contacted to doctor (unknown to me) I was taken there and given ten minutes to decide.

I was given no information about abortion because it was illegal. My mother had an abortion herself, when she was unwed and pregnant.

The abortion was degrading and horrific. The doctor told me I had a beautiful body while he was scraping the uterus.

After the abortion, I became unable to function. I thought about suicide, lost my job and I had to be hospitalized (off and on for two years). My boyfriend was hospitalized for six months and dropped out of grad school.

To help deal with the abortion I became a pro-life worker and try to share my experience so others will not experience the same pain.

The abortion has changed my life because there is still a heavy burden although I know God has forgiven me. I now have five beautiful children and this experience has taught me to treasure them everyday.
