I call that day the birth/death day of my child

(When I had my abortion) it was still illegal in U.S.  I flew to London, alone, at age 19, and had the abortion on July 4, 1969.

Were you given adequate information and counseling prior to the abortions? 

None.

How would you describe your abortions? 

Impersonal.

At first it was a relief. I regret it now and would do things differently. I call that day the birth/death day of my child. I would have given it up for adoption as I couldn’t have parented it well now.

I’ve prayed much and sought forgiveness. I teach religion in a high school and in limited ways tell students of my experience.

I had difficulty getting pregnant. I don't know if the abortion is the reason, although it didn't take long to get pregnant at first. I have one teenage son.
