Priests for Life Holds Names of Unborn Under Altar
As another sign that our brothers and sisters killed by
abortion are not forgotten, Priests for Life will maintain a book of names of
aborted children. The book has been placed under the altar in the chapel of the
new John Cardinal O'Connor International Headquarters of Priests for Life in New
York City. The names of the babies enrolled in this book will be remembered in
the prayers and Masses offered in that chapel, and offered anywhere by the
priests on staff.
Names may be sent to
innocents@priestsforlife.org.
These may be names of the child of a friend or relative who has had an abortion,
or perhaps the name of an aborted child for whom you interceded at an abortion
mill before he or she was killed.
In establishing this book, we remind you of similar efforts
elsewhere. The Church of the Holy Innocents in Manhattan, for example, maintains
a shrine in honor of unborn children, and a book in which their names can be
enrolled. Visit them at www.innocents.com.
And, of course, the National Memorial for the Unborn in Chattanooga,
Tennessee, maintains a fifty-foot granite "Wall of Names" of children who have
been aborted. Contact them at
www.memorialfortheunborn.org
for more information.
Let us pray. Lord, your glory is reflected in the life of every human
person, no matter how small, and no matter how brief his/her life may be.
Receive our unborn brothers and sisters who have been killed by abortion. Give
them your salvation, in a manner which you alone know, and comfort all who
grieve their death. May the books, memorial stones, and plaques which are set up
here on earth to remember them also remind us to work tirelessly for the day
when every life will be welcomed and protected with justice. We ask this through
Christ our Lord. Amen.
