Rachel’s Vineyard announces new partnership with Priests for Life

Dear Friends,

The last eight years have been a time of tremendous growth as the Ministry of Rachel’s Vineyard has spread across the United States and Internationally. During the last 5 years we have been blessed by the support of Judie and Paul Brown and American Life League. Our affiliation with A.L.L. ended in December 2003 with best wishes expressed for our continued success in bringing our effective and beautiful healing resources and retreats to those wounded by abortion. In addition, we have been very active in training lay and professional counselors in post abortion trauma and healing. Since the publication of Theresa’s latest book Forbidden Grief, we have seen a new upsurge in requests for training, even in secular and academic circles.

We decided in January that we could best continue our unique calling and restructure for continued growth in partnership with another pro life ministry that shared a sensitivity to our unique mission and understood the importance of healing and reconciliation for those women, men, couples, and families who have suffered the loss of a child from abortion.

When the Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat Manual was first published we relied on the pastoral sensitivity and sacramental knowledge of Fr. Frank Pavone. He was an important advisor and mentor in this development process. Fr Pavone and Fr. Denis Wilde, O.S.A., have served as priests on a number of Rachel’s Vineyard Retreats and have actively encouraged their brother clergy and interdenominational pastors to help staff our retreat teams.

Given the sensitivity and compassion of Fr. Pavone when we worked together on our retreat manual, we contacted Fr. Pavone in January to explore the possibility of developing a partnership with Priests for Life to continue expanding and organizing the mission of Rachel’s Vineyard. We feel blessed to learn that Fr. Pavone and Priests for Life share our vision, mission and our excitement to grow together in this healing ministry. We have made the decision as directors of Rachel’s Vineyard, to become a ministry of Priests For Life. We believe that as Rachel’s Vineyard continues to spread, it is important to have the spiritual, organizational, and material assistance that Priests For Life can provide in order to respond to the growth, and empower leadership for the future.

We would like to thank in a special way all the dedicated clergy, volunteers, counselors and laborers using the Rachel’s Vineyard program who serve with great love in Project Rachel and Respect life offices, Crisis Pregnancy Centers, Retreat Houses, and many other parish based and pro life sponsored ministries throughout the country.

We are very grateful for our collaboration with the growing number of Interdenominational Ministries who offer the Interdenominational version of the Rachel’s Vineyard program and are filled with joy as the retreats spread to these diverse ministries and Churches that so beautifully and effectively share the love and mercy of Jesus. We will continue to encourage, support and expand this growth.

Priests for Life has been a member for the last 10 years of the National Pro-Life Religious Council, an interdenominational Christian group that calls upon the Body of Christ to be fully active in defending human life. Fr. Pavone was elected by the membership to serve as the current president of the NPRC.

We look forward to continued collaboration with all our friends and associates involved in Rachel’s Vineyard and post abortion healing as we work together to bring comfort to God’s people and bring women and men into the arms of a merciful God who restores and redeems.

In Christ Jesus,
Theresa and Kevin Burke

"Therefore I am now going to allure her, I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her. There I will give her back her vineyards and transform her valley of troubles into a door of hope." (Hosea 2: 16-17)

Fr. Frank Pavone to Speak about RV in EWTN Homily

Congratulations to Archdiocese of Newark and the Newark RV Team!!!

Msgr. McGuiness and Michelle Krystofic, of the Respect Life Office have been such a blessing to Rachel’s Vineyard! With great joy we share the following note from Michelle:

Just a note to say, that we have just passed a milestone here in Rachel’s Vineyard in the Archdiocese of Newark, NJ. We just held our 25th retreat on January 16-18, 2004. Our first retreat was in October, 1997 and I can definitely say that this has been a journey filled with many blessings, much grace, growth, pruning and incredible life changing miracles. I believe that this ministry is anointed by God and as such will continue to spread and bear fruit. To all who are beginning the journey, "Take courage, He’s calling you". I thank God each day for the gift of Rachel’s Vineyard in my life and in the lives of all those who have attended throughout the world!!

God bless,
Michelle Krystofik

Miracles from the Vineyard in British Columbia

By Janet Kormish

At our retreat reunion last week, one of the retreatants shared how he had been wearing the rose and cross pin from the retreat on his jacket. Everywhere he goes he has people asking him about the pin, and then he tells them all about how people who attend the RV retreat weekends are healed from their abortion experiences! Another story of healing: a young lady, her mom and dad who came to the last retreat weekend experienced the healing of wounded relationships. The mother expressed it in these terms: "We have our daughter back. It is truly a miracle. We have been ‘born again’ and it is like a renewal of our wedding vows". Their daughter had been suicidal since the day of her abortion four years ago, and had been very angry with her dad who had told her when she was a teenager that if she ever got pregnant not ever to bring the baby home. The reuniting of father and daughter over the weekend was awesome to watch. God indeed, is working miracles in the lives of these people!

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
Whose confidence is in him.
He will be like a tree plated by the water
That sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when the heat comes;
And its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
Jeremiah 17
