Statement By Father Frank Pavone, National Director Of Priests For Life

(Staten Island, NY)… In response to the many inquiries Priests for Life has received regarding the immorality of the use of RU-486 for abortion, Father Frank Pavone, National Director, released the following statement:

"In response to inquiries to our office about where someone who uses RU-486 stands with the Church, Priests for Life reminds Catholics that the Church has already indicated that the penalty of excommunication which applies to surgical abortion applies to chemical methods of abortion as well. The Code of Canon Law specifies the various conditions necessary for excommunication to actually occur," said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life.

"Priests for Life, furthermore, is committed to providing the healing, counseling, and forgiveness needed after abortion for those who use chemical methods, just as we continue to do for those that have surgical abortions."
