National priests' group urges support of fetal pain
legislation
Washington, DC- Priests for Life, a national anti-abortion
organization, urges support for the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act (S 51,
HR 356), which provides that women seeking abortions after 20 weeks of
pregnancy be given information on the baby's ability to feel pain, and the
option to administer pain-relieving medication.
"Women deserve to be informed about what the so-called 'choice' of
abortion does to their babies," said Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of
Priests for Life. "We are appalled at the fact that so many abortionists do not
even consider the fact that a baby feels pain during an abortion."
Priests for Life will inform the nation's priests about this bill and
urge them to activate their parishioners to vigorously support it.
