New York, NY: In response to the anti-death penalty campaign announced this month by the United States Bishops, Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, made this statement: "I join my voice to all who call for an end to capital punishment. Our Priests for Life ministry has always taught that the use of capital punishment, even in those rare circumstances in which it may be justified, feeds the false notion that death is a solution to our problems. We do not solve problems by throwing people away. Priests for Life will actively promote among the clergy this new campaign of the bishops to educate people on capital punishment and to call for its abolition."
