Priests' Group Praises California
Ballot Effort on Abortion
San Diego, CA -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests
for Life, commented today on the news that the parental notification measure
in California has qualified to be on the next election ballot.
"Parents should be informed when their minor-age daughters seek an abortion.
Abortion advocates always speak about how agonizing this decision is, yet oppose
efforts to bring these agonized young mothers out of their isolation and into
the care of their own parents.
"Now it will be up to the California voters to enact this commonsense
legislation, already in effect in so many other states and supported by strong
majorities of the American public. I call upon pastors to preach vigorously, to
conduct voter registration drives, and urge their people to support this measure
when it comes time to vote."
