Dr. King and Fr. Frank
Pavone on Coretta Scott King
A zeal for life; a legacy
that calls us to love all God's children
WASHINGTON, Feb. 6 --
Dr. Alveda King, niece of the late Coretta
Scott King, and Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and Gospel of Life
Ministries, released the following statement today as memorial services begin
for her aunt.
"Aunt Coretta exemplified the strength and
beauty of Queen Esther as a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished
servant-leader. One of her favorite songs, "Ain't Got Time to Die" gave true
expression to her zeal for life. She will live forever in the memory of her
beloved community."
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests
for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries, said, "All of those who work with me in
the ministry of protecting unborn children join together today to express our
condolences and promise our prayers for Alveda and the entire King family. It is
an honor to have a member of the King family working with us to continue the
King legacy, which is about the equal dignity of every human life. As Coretta
Scott King is laid to rest this week, may our hearts remain restless until every
form of oppression is eliminated from our midst, and justice is secured for
everyone without exception."
