WASHINGTON, Feb. 21 /Christian Wire Service/
-- Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, made the
following comments on the Supreme Court's acceptance of the partial birth
abortion case.
"We expected that the Supreme Court would
again review the question of whether states can protect the lives of children
who are mostly delivered from their mothers' wombs but are still in danger of
being killed by a procedure that thrusts scissors into the child's head. We also
expect that the Court will respect the rights of states to prevent this
procedure, as most of them have attempted to do, and the rights of the people to
govern themselves on this matter through their elected officials.
If pro-abortion groups want to continue to
maintain that partial-birth abortion is required by Roe vs. Wade, they will
simply be reinforcing our efforts to educate people on how extreme Roe vs. Wade
really is. Let them go right ahead and do so."
Priests for Life has been involved in the
effort to expose the reality of partial-birth abortion since 1994, and will
continue to vigorously work for the protection of unborn and partially-born
children against all forms of abortion.
