Father Frank Pavone of Priests
for Life Praises Court Ruling Allowing Tennessee's "Choose Life" License Plates
“That ‘Choose Life’ license plates in Tennessee could
bother the ACLU and Planned Parenthood so much that they tried to have a court
ban the plates only shows the depths of the pro-abortion mindset,” states Fr.
Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “Life is a precious
gift to be promoted and cherished, not an ‘issue’ to be countered by an opposing
viewpoint.”
Fr. Pavone’s comments are in response to a decision
Friday by the U.S. Court of Appeals’ Sixth Circuit allowing Tennessee to offer
license plates that read “Choose Life.” The state legislature voted in
2003 to sell the plates, with half the profits going to the state and half given
to dozens of specified groups that offer counseling and financial assistance to
pregnant women. The ACLU and Planned Parenthood had previously obtained an
order to enjoin production of the plates.
“The Court of Appeals ruling restores common sense,”
declares Fr. Pavone.
“The right of a state, a driver, or anyone else to say ‘choose life’ should
never be called into question.”
