Priests for Life Announces National Voter
Registration Sundays
Washington, DC – Priests for
Life, recently named among the
top 20 Christian Organizations in the
nation that promote political involvement, announced today that it has
designated three Sundays as “National Voter Registration Sundays.” The
organization is urging Churches of every denomination to give the members of
their congregations the opportunity to vote by having voter registration forms
at Church for the people to fill out. The dates chosen are June 4
(Pentecost Sunday), July 2 (the weekend of Independence Day), and September 17.
“This is not about partisan
politics. This is about involvement as citizens in self-government, and
involvement as Christians in renewing the culture,” explained Fr. Frank Pavone,
National Director of Priests for Life and President of the National Pro-Life
Religious Council. “It is completely legal and perfectly appropriate that
in the very places where people hear the Word of God telling them to make the
world a better place, they be given one of the simplest tools to do that.
Unless we enable Christians to exercise their citizenship, we risk becoming
marginalized and irrelevant,” Fr. Pavone concluded.
