Says Dr. Alveda King

Atlanta, GA – The firing of a young African American woman by the YWCA of
Greater Cincinnati allegedly for organizing a pro-life presentation has drawn
the criticism of Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and
niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ms. Shannon Nixon was recently
terminated by the YWCA after inviting a black pro-life speaker to address a
group of predominantly African American, low income women. "The YWCA's slogan
is 'eliminating racism, empowering women,' yet when a program designed to do
just that is presented, the YWCA fires the woman who organized the event,” said
Dr. King. “It’s a sad commentary on the ‘Y’ when a group that has the word
Christian in its title silences those who would want young women to choose life.
It’s even sadder that a group that claims to want to eliminate racism welcomes
speakers who champion an abortion industry that has eliminated a major portion
of the African American population.”
