National Pro-Life Religious Council: Proposed California Assisted Suicide Group Demonstrates False Compassion |
|
Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone, President of the National Pro-Life Religious
Council (NPRC), today criticized a proposed new group in California that says it
will counsel elderly and terminally ill people on how to kill themselves. "What this California group wants to do is morally no different than telling someone standing on a ledge to jump," said Fr. Pavone. "Compassion is not telling people how to die, but helping them to live. Those who are terminally ill deserve every appropriate measure of care, as well as our presence and our prayers. The NPRC will continue to echo, in every denomination, the call to compassionate care for the sick." |
