Staten Island, NY – Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. and full-time Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life, has been
named one of the Top Ten People of 2007 by Inside the Vatican magazine.
In naming Dr. King, the magazine called her “one of the
leading pro-life voices in America and the world today.” “I am humbled and
honored by this recognition, but I give all glory to God who allows me to speak
on behalf of His children who cannot speak for themselves,” Dr. King said.
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director, stated, “All of us at
Priests for Life are proud to have Alveda on the team. Through her efforts
we have made significant headway in assisting our African-American brothers and
sisters to understand that the pro-life movement belongs to them as much as to
anyone else. Now is the time for more African-American leadership in
defense of the unborn.”
Among those named with Dr. King are renowned historian Sir
Martin Gilbert, Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, and Sr. Eugenia
Bonetti, a worldwide leader in the struggle against human trafficking.
