Washington, DC – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of
Priests for Life, announced today the release of the Study Guide on
Humanae Vitae that the priests and pastoral associates of Priests for
Life have published in order to assist parishes and individuals to prepare
for the 40th anniversary of this landmark encyclical.
“In three short months, the Church will reach the 40th
anniversary of a document that remains as crucial today as the day it was
issued,” said Fr. Pavone. “Humanae Vitae isn’t just about ‘birth
control;’ it’s about who is in control. It’s about the dominion
of God over human life.”
Fr. Pavone added, “It is significant that in the same
year, 1968, the United Nations issued the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights, declaring everyone’s right to life and right to be recognized as a
person before the law. These two documents reinforce one another,” Fr.
Pavone added. “Either human beings have the final word about who lives
or dies, or the reality of human rights, given by God, limits what we may or
may not do.”
