Priests for Life Director Calls for 40 Days for Life
Date: September 24, 2008
Washington, DC – As one of the foremost promoters of this new mobilization in the pro-life movement, Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, is sending a message to every priest in America this week as the national 40 Days for Life campaign gets underway. The message is an urgent invitation to make the period between now and Election Day “a season of intense prayer and action for life.”
“Whether your city is formally signed up for the 40 Days effort or not,” Fr. Pavone states in his message, “I urge you to lead your people in prayer at the nearest abortion mill. That’s how the killing will stop and these mills will close.” Fr. Pavone also provides priests with a concrete list of suggested activities and resources at www.priestsforlife.org/40days. They include a daily prayer to end abortion (www.PrayerCampaign.org) and intense promotion of alternatives to abortion and post-abortion healing (www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org).
The National Campaign Coordinator for 40 Days for Life, David Bereit, said, “I truly believe that much of the explosive growth of 40 Days for Life has been due to the involvement of Priests for Life.”
The Priests for Life Pastoral Team and the 40 Days national team are joining together to visit as many of the 40 Days for Life sites across the nation as possible during this Fall campaign.
Fr. Pavone added, “Priests for Life exists for the pro-life renewal of the Church. When the Church is renewed, she takes to the streets, and that is what is happening with 40 Days for Life.”
