Staten Island, NY – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life,
said today that both backers and opponents of Roe v. Wade should support SB 92,
a bill that would require a doctor to be available for an in-person consultation
one day prior to performing an abortion.
“Backers of Roe v. Wade frequently talk about abortion as a decision between
a woman and her physician,” said Fr.Pavone, “but the abortionist and the woman
are strangers. Her physician is not involved. There’s a gap between the rhetoric
and the reality of what happens in an abortion clinic. SB 92 simply highlights
the enormity of that gap.”
SB 92 will be voted upon Wednesday by the South Dakota state Senate Health and Human
Services Committee.
