“A slap in the face” to Christ and the unborn

Priests for Life

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today after receiving confirmation that Vice President Joseph Biden and Rep. Nancy Pelosi received Communion during the Installation Mass for Pope Francis.

“At a Mass during which our new Pope emphasized the duty public officials – and all the rest of us – have to protect the weakest among us, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi have the audacity to receive Communion while publicly renouncing their responsibility to protect the weakest among us.

“Some Church leaders mistakenly think we are advocating the use of the Eucharist as a ‘weapon.’ In fact, we are defending the Eucharist from being used as a political tool. These politicians have no respect for what the Eucharist means: an integral, consistent union with Christ and with all our brothers and sisters. To receive Christ while rejecting the unborn is a slap in the face to both.”

Father Pavone is the president of the National Pro-life Religious Council and national pastoral director of Rachel’s Vineyard and the Silent No More Awareness Campaign.

The Vatican needs to explain why Mr. Biden and Mrs. Pelosi were allowed to receive Holy Communion at the papal installation Mass. Was it a mistake, was there a special dispensation granted, did the person distributing Holy Communion in violation of the regulation?

Someone please tell me why in the hell this should be allowed??? My great hope in our new pope has quickly been diminshed! We are asked to pray and council at abortion clinics while the leaders of our church allow leaders of our country that CELEBRATE abortion and who's party through God out of their convention to attend mass and receive communion!!!! The church asks that people that have been divorced not receive communion but yet the leader of the Catholic church without reservation allows communion to leaders that support the DEATH of babies and even mock the Pope and Catholic faith! Just when I warm up to the idea of growing in my Catholic faith I get CHILLED!

What an opportunity to make such a powerful pro-life statement to the Catholic flock and the world, but not a chance. Instead, this action makes an absolute mockery of teh Catholic Church. JESUS THREW THE BAD PEOPLE OUT OF THE TEMPLE; OUR NEW POPE AND THE VATICAN JUST INVITES THEM IN TO SHARE SOMETHING SO SACRED!

One should not receive communion while in the state of mortal sin... unless you are a world leader!
