Priests for Life leaders to speak at National Right to Life Convention

Priests for Life

7/6/2016

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Bryan Kemper, Director of Youth Outreach, will speak at the 2016 National Right to Life Convention (www.NRLConvention.com)  taking place this week at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport in Herndon, VA.

On Thursday, July 7 at 5:15 p.m., Father Pavone will be one of the presenters at the workshop on “The Church, The Media, The State” with Ernest Ohlhoff, director of outreach for the National Right to Life Committee, and Steven Ertelt, editor of LifeNews.com.

The workshop will present an overview of how the Church, the State and the media interact. Fr. Frank will address a key point made in his new book Abolishing Abortion -- and also pointed out recently by Donald Trump -- that the Church should be free to speak her mind on politics, without intimidation from the State regarding "tax-exempt status."

On Friday, July 8, at 11:15 a.m., Father Pavone will lead a panel discussion on “Providing Support and Leadership in Churches.” Also on the panel will be board members of the National Pro-life Religious Council, of which Fr. Pavone serves as President. The panel will address key questions about how to help pastors preach on abortion, promote political responsibility, and foster healing after abortion, including by utilizing the resources of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign (a joint project of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life).

Bryan Kemper will lead a workshop on the conference’s parallel teen track.  On Thursday, July 7, at 4:45 p.m., Mr. Kemper will introduce himself to pro-life teens in a workshop titled, “Social Justice Begins in the Womb: The Story of a Punk Rock Street Thug Turned Pro-Life Activist.” Present with Bryan will be four summer interns whom the Priests for Life Youth Outreach program is training between now and the middle of August, immersing them in pro-life activism and interaction with the movement's leaders.

“In light of the Supreme Court's recent decision striking down pro-life provisions in a Texas law, and in the light of the upcoming elections, this year’s convention couldn’t be more important,” Father Pavone said.

“Movement leaders from the national level to the grass-roots need to come together to strategize and plan for the future, and to network with and re-energize each other. I look forward to this gathering every year.”
