Pam Tebow to receive pro-life award at national prayer service

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Pam Tebow invites everyone who will be in Washington, D.C. for the March for Life to join her at the National Memorial for the Pre-Born and Their Mothers and Fathers, to take place at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 27 in Constitution Hall.

Mrs. Tebow sparked a national conversation when she told the world – through a commercial aired during the 2010 Superbowl – that she almost lost her son when she was pregnant. Doctors suggested she abort her son because of strong medicine she was taking to battle a serious illness. She chose life, no matter the consequences, and that son, Tim Tebow, became one of the world’s greatest college football players of all time.

“On January 27, Americans from across the nation gather in Washington, D.C., to call for equal protection of the youngest children, those still in the womb,” Mrs. Tebow said.

“Moreover, men and women of the Silent No More Campaign gather to express how abortion hurt them and their families, and how the Lord brought them healing, forgiveness, and peace. I look forward to gathering with these pro-life Americans in Constitution Hall at the National Prayer Service that morning, and hope you can join me there as well.

“I am grateful, too, for the honor of receiving the National Pro-life Recognition Award which will be presented to me at the prayer service by Priests for Life and the National Pro-life Religious Council. Join us in praying that America will soon become a nation with liberty and justice for all, born and unborn.”

The National Memorial brings together clergy from dozens of denominations for prayers and preaching before the nation’s largest protest march against abortion. The service will end at 10:30 a.m., leaving attendees plenty of time to get to the March for Life site in time for the rally. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and President of the National Pro-Life Religious Council, will deliver the sermon.

Special musical guests at the service will include Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation and singer/songwriter Tony Melendez, who plays guitar despite having been born with no arms.

Organizations that are co-sponsoring the National Memorial include: Catholics Called to Witness; Jubilee Campaign Law of Life Project; Bukas Loob Sa Diyos (BLD - Open your heart to God); Life Issues Institute; National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), and Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life.

Serving on the Host Committee are Archbishop Craig W. Bates, Patriarch of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church; Ernie Ohlhoff, National Right to Life Committee; Alveda King, Director of Civil Rights for the Unborn, Priests for Life; Bradley Mattes, President and CEO, Life Issues Institute, and Dick, Sherley and Rich Bott of Bott Radio Network.

“This is the premiere prayer service during the March for Life, and everyone is invited,” Father Pavone said.

The National Memorial is free and no registration is required. Constitution Hall can easily accommodate large groups that will travel together to the March for Life.
