31st season of Defending Life premieres March 8 on EWTN

Priests for Life

NEW YORK – The 31st season of EWTN’s Defending Life will premiere March 8 with 13 new episodes.
The longest-running, farthest-reaching television show about abortion, Defending Life was created by Priests for Life in 1994 at the direct request of EWTN founder Mother Angelica to Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life.
Returning as co-hosts this season will be Janet Morana, Executive Director of Priests for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, and Father Stephen Imbarrato, pastoral associate at Priests for Life. Father Pavone is the creative director.
Episodes will focus on healing for fathers following the loss of a child to abortion; sibling survivors of abortion; the early days of the pro-life movement and the sacredness of every human life. Viewers will meet Dr. Beverly McMillan, a former abortionist turned pro-life activist; Sister Margaret Mary Christina, who was born at 24 weeks, and Dr. Donna Harrison of the American Association of Pro-Life Ob-Gyns, among others.
Priests for Life senior advisor Jerry Horn, who has been in the pro-life trenches since 1983, will talk about his experiences through 34 years of activism. Viewers also will get to meet Ann Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League, who has a claim to the title of “Godmother of the pro-life movement.”
“I’m excited to be able to introduce our audience to a sibling survivor of abortion and to a woman who is Silent No More about her abortion experience,” Mrs. Morana said.
Father Imbarrato said an episode that focuses on the Missionaries of the Gospel of Life (MEV), a Priests for Life ministry he oversees, should be especially interesting to lay people.
“Often people ask me how they can get more involved with pro-life, and I always point them to the MEV program,” he said. “It provides a deep immersion into the spirituality of the movement as taught by St. Pope John Paul.”
Father Pavone said the news season of Defending Life will continue its mission of educating and activating pro-lifers, while winning more converts to the cause.
“One episode will focus on all the ways people can get involved in the work of Priests for Life,” he noted. “We always need people willing to help us protect children, and their mothers and fathers, from the horror of abortion.”
Defending Life airs Wednesdays at 3 a.m. ET and Thursdays at 11 p.m. ET, and also can be streamed online at by clicking on the “television” tab. Find out more on www.DefendingLife.TV
