Fr. Pavone hails Kentucky governor as state seeks to become first “abortion free” in U.S.

NEW YORK -- Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today hailed Kentucky’s attempts to close the last abortion clinic in the state.

“I salute Gov. Matt Bevin for his efforts to protect unborn children in his state. He is a true friend of life. If he is successful, his state will be the first to be able to proclaim itself abortion free. That is something the governor of every state should aspire to.”

Kentucky officials notified EMW Women’s Surgical Center in Louisville last month that its license would be revoked as of April 3 because there were deficiencies with the abortion business’s agreement with an ambulance service and hospital contracted to provide emergency care to mothers injured during an abortion.

Last week, a federal judge issued an order that will keep the clinic open while a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of the abortion business and the abortionist, Ernest Marshall, makes its way through the courts.

Marshall also ran an abortion business in Lexington, where state health inspectors found expired medication and filthy exam tables and instruments. Last year, Gov. Bevin was successful in halting abortions there and at Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky in Louisville.

“Governors who pay attention to the abuses of the abortion industry are safeguarding the health and safety of women in the state, as well as their unborn children,” Father Pavone said. “This kind of oversight will keep another ‘house of horrors’ like the one operated by Kermit Gosnell in Pennsylvania, from injuring and killing women.”
