Truth Uncovers Abortion Evils

We have witnessed throughout time evil disguising itself as
good. As early as Adam and Eve, words have been twisted to hide the truth. The
serpent told Eve that the forbidden fruit would make them like God, and covered
up the fact that eating the fruit would be direct disobedience of God. Today in
the twenty-first century we see this same twisting and covering up of truth by
abortionists trying to justify the intentional killing of an unborn child.
Abortionists, claim that it is a "woman's right" to kill her
unborn child. But they overlook the baby's rights. The Declaration of
Independence states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are
created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. " These
rights were granted to every American, including an unborn baby who is utilizing
his or her right to life. But the Supreme Court on January 22, 1973 saw fit to
exclude the unborn from receiving these rights.
Supporters of abortion call abortion clinics "women's health
centers". In truth, "women's health centers" inflict traumatic experiences on
women who walk through their doors, as well as real physical complications. The
National Cancer Institute funded a ten year study which concluded that a woman's
chance of contracting breast cancer rises 50% after she receives an abortion. If
the woman is eighteen years old or younger or if it is her first pregnancy, the
rises 150%. For a woman who has a family history of breast cancer her chances
shoot up to 270% if she has an abortion. A "woman's health center" is anything
but healthy for the woman and her baby.
"Choice". Every day in America we make choices. Hamburger or
cheeseburger? Paper or plastic? Abortionists say a woman has the "right to
choose". Although this phrase is used so often, they never will answer the
question, "Choose what?" Americans pride themselves on the freedom to choose.
Pro-abortionists use this to their advantage to hide the truth of the decision
to abort a baby. The choice is life or death. This decision is God's alone.
Ultra sound shows us the awesome development of a child in the
womb. Pro-abortionists try to take away from this miracle by calling the unborn
baby a "blob of tissue". They know the truth, and are afraid that a pregnant
woman will choose life for her child if she sees her developing child in her
womb. Even when ultra sound is used in late-term abortions, the screen is turned
away from the mother so she will not see her baby. Abortionists fear the truth.
The evils of abortion are fully realized when the truth of the
abortion "procedure" is revealed. The use of the word "procedure" portrays
abortion as safe, simple surgery, when in fact, it is a horrific destruction of
the unborn child. A baby's limbs are systematically torn from the child's body.
In others the child is crushed or poisoned. These revolting descriptions are the
real "procedure": the procedure of death.
On the overseas battlefield the United States has defended
democracy and protected innocent life. Yet many more children have been killed
by abortion in America than all American war casualties combined. Innocent lives
are being threatened and destroyed on our own soil. They are not being
protected. Every year more than 1.4 million children are aborted in out country.
Since 1973 more than 40 million babies have lost their lives. America needs to
wake-up and see the truth: abortion kills children.
In our world today, evil is all around us disguised as good.
We must uncover the evil and reveal the truth. We must have strength to oppose
the evils of abortion. In our lives, especially in our time as a teenager, we
must reach out to those considering an abortion and help them see the evils of
abortion. Even if we stand alone, we must stand tall for what is right.
I am reminded of one of my favorite stories, Horton Hears a
Who, by Dr. Suess. In it, an elephant, Horton, discovers life on a small
cloverleaf flower. He becomes the guardian of the small flower. His friends try
to destroy it, but Horton protects the clover because he believes "a person's a
person no matter how small". This simple truth has a profound meaning. Life is
precious and we must protect it. We must defend all life and reveal the truth of
abortion evils.
