A Babe in Advent’s womb

Is heard in Rachel’s cry:

"Make not that womb a tomb

Where Son of God will die.

"Among us let Him live

To give new life to all;

Conception Image gives

God’s purpose ‘fore the Fall.

"Let Him redeem each child

In mothers’ wombs conceived

And save from Satan’s guile

Each baby we receive.

"May Christmas come anew

In every mother’s heart,

As Mary’s ‘yes’ imbues

Each mother from the start.

"May each in Advent grow

Until for all will come

First Christmas each child knows

As earth made heaven’s home."
