How Easy it was…
[Note: Priests for Life coordinates the "Child Protection Project," which
brings to school districts the concerns of taxpayers that referral to family
planning services, like Planned Parenthood, is a legal liability, and asks
those districts how they are protecting themselves.
The project is explained on our website. Here is a
helpful testimony from an activist, demonstrating just how easy the project
is.]
I felt I must write to reassure others of how easy it was to present the
case against Planned Parenthood at my school district’s September board
meeting. I strongly encourage others to do the same.
It was such a simple, straightforward business matter that I wondered,
afterward, why I had felt so intimidated by the prospect of addressing the
board. I simply presented the LDI legal notification and my written questions,
introducing the materials as I distributed them. No one interrupted or
challenged me, or even asked for clarification. The materials were
self-explanatory, so my remarks were minimal.
The whole "presentation" lasted no more than three minutes and consisted
mainly of passing out copies. I read question #8 as an example of the kinds of
questions I was asking as a citizen taxpayer.
I requested written responses from the school board, suggested a two-month
time frame for their response, and asked to receive the answers at a November
board meeting, to which they agreed.
I was calm, polite, and matter-of-fact in my presentation, and I was treated
respectfully in return.
I may not like the answers I get at the November board meeting, or I may be
pleasantly surprised, but in any event, I will have gotten my school board and
the school’s administrative staff to acknowledge the clear evidence against
Planned Parenthood in the matter of its violation of mandatory reporting laws.
That, in itself, is a victory, and will surely cause the district to have second
thoughts about the "wisdom" of inviting PP to present to its students in future.
