Republican Presidential District Conventions – March 6, 2012 (voters may register at their local district convention site on the day of the convention)

Democrat Presidential Caucus – April 15, 2012 (voters may register at their caucus site on the day of the caucus)

State Primary registration deadline – July 29, 2012

State Primary date – August 28, 2012

General Election registration deadline – October 7, 2012

Early voting

In person – Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse required.  Early in-person voting is available for the State Primary between August 13 and Primary Day, August 28; for the General Election between October 22 and Election Day, November 5.

Early in-person voting is begins at local Regional Election Offices and other sites on Monday, October 22. A list of early voting locations, dates, and hours is available at http://www.elections.alaska.gov/vi_ea_ev_site_genr.php.

By mail – Any voter may vote early by mail, no excuse required.  Applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be received by August 18 for the State Primary; by October 27 for the General Election.  Returned ballots must be postmarked by Election Day.

There is no absentee/vote-by-mail voting for the Presidential District Conventions or Caucus.

Absentee voting by mail – Begins October 12

By fax – Any voter may vote early by fax, no excuse required.  Applications for absentee/vote-by-fax ballots must be received by the day before the election.  By-fax voting for the State Primary begins on August 13 and ends on Primary Day, August 28; for the General Election, it begins on October 22 and ends on Election Day, November 6. There is no by-fax voting for the Presidential District Conventions or Caucus.
