In person - A voter may vote early in person if he will be away from
his county of residence on Election Day, learns seven days before the election
that he will be confined to a military base, is a precinct officer, will be
hospitalized on Election Day, or is a pregnant woman in her third trimester.
Early in person voting is available at the local County Clerk’s Office between
May 5 and May 19 for the Primary and between October 17 and November 3 for the
General Election.
By mail - A voter may vote early by mail if he is of advanced age, has
a disability or illness, is serving in the military, is a student who
temporarily lives outside the county, temporarily resides outside the state, is
incarcerated but not convicted, or has employment that takes him out of the
county during polling hours. The voter’s application for absentee ballot must be
in the possession of the County Clerk by May 13 for the Primary and by October
28 for the General Election. A list of County Clerks is available at
http://elect.ky.gov/countyclerks.htm.
Absentee ballots must be returned by Election Day.
